Izak9 Math Cubes

Proposal

We are a very small rural school in the heart of West Cork.
If we are lucky enough to be successful with this application we will use the funding to purchase two sets of Izak 9 cubes for our senior classes.
We recently welcomed a retired Primary School teacherl (Pat Hanrahan) to our school to model a maths lesson using this resource. The pupils were so much more challenged and engaged in the maths lesson and we could really see how the teaching materials/lesson plans which come with the resource supports the needs of pupils of all abilities and learning styles. Teachers and children were so enthusiastic and the children keep asking us when can we get it!

We have been looking for a maths resource such as this to support maths for our older pupils for a number of years. It becomes increasingly more difficult to keep children engaged in maths as they get older. This is particularly the case in a small school such as ours as the class teacher is teaching 3 different maths programmes to 3 classes due to small numbers. This is a tried and tested resource with much published research proving its effectiveness.
